Healthysih Delicious Chocolate Scones
These scones are super
delicious, easy to make and a healthier option.
They use gluten free flour, protein powder and vegetable powder to make
scones that taste amazing and are healthish.
I love scones and having this version allows me to indulge myself with a
guilty pleasure without all the guilt and yucky feeling that gluten typically
has.
Ingredients:
- · Gluten free flour (Krusteaz Gluten Free all-purpose flour) https://amzn.to/4cRUNmq
- · Chocolate protein powder (Greens Frist Dream Protein) https://amzn.to/3XuAaZ7
- · Cocoa powder
- · Chocolate vegetable powder (Greens Frist Green Powder) https://amzn.to/3MvdIIX
- · Sugar
- · Baking powder
- · 1 egg
- · Heaving cream
- · Salt
- · Butter
- · Chocolate chips
Baking Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425
Combine and mix with whisk:
- · 1.5 cups gluten free flour
- · ½ cup chocolate protein powder
- · 2 Tables spoons and 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder
- · One scoop of chocolate vegetable powder (use scoop provided in container)
- · ¼ cup sugar
- · 1 tablespoon baking powder
- · ¾ teaspoon salt
- · 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of cold unsalted butter. This works best if you use a cheese grater and grate the cold butter. You want the butter cold.
In separate container
combine:
- · 1 egg
- · 1 cup heavy cream
Add egg mixture to flour
mixture (leave about 2 tablespoons for the end). If your floor mixture is still too dry add
1-5 tablespoons of heavy cream to the mixture 1 tablespoon at a time.
Add 1 cup chocolate chips
Spray a baking sheet with
cooking spray
Use an ice cream or cookie scope to
put uncooked batter on cooking sheet be sure to spread them out. Makes about 1.5 dozen scones. After scopes are laid on the cooking sheet
lightly flatten them. Then use the leftover egg mixture and brush it onto the
top. (The best scope to use is one
that portions each scope, so each scone is the same size and cooks evenly. I recommend this one: https://amzn.to/4gbO5u8)
Cook for 10 to 14 minutes.
Cool on baking sheets.
Optional: combine powdered
sugar, vanilla and milk to make a glaze to drizzle over the top after scones
are cooked.
