Mom School - Chore Charts for Small Children

                                                                    Mom School

The other night, I was teaching my son how to do something fundamental in the kitchen, and he asked me where I learned to do that task; I told him at “mom school.” He responded, “Is there a dad school?”  I quickly told him I had been joking and learned how to do it from my mom, but it got me thinking about all the adulting and parting things I know and how I’ve learned them. I’m so thankful for the people and resources I have to pull information from that help me figure out this mom thing because it sure isn’t easy.  Mom School helped remind me that I give him chores because that is how my mom taught me how to function and become an adult.   It is my responsibility to ensure that when my son is ready to leave the nest, he is prepared, which is why I use a chore chart with my elementary-age child.

See the link for what I use and recommend as a chore chart to start with:  https://amzn.to/3M5NnRw

Chores to Start With

  1. Basic hygiene.  These are essential things to teach our kids, but they also make our lives so much easier when they need less help with basic hygiene (brushing teeth, getting dressed, brushing hair, etc.).

Next Step:

  1. Simple tasks.  Put Dirty dishes at the sink, dirty clothing in the hamper, and shoes by the door.

Continue to add tasks based on your child’s age and ability

  1. Do dishes, fold your laundry, sweep the floor, mop, vacuum, and clean the bathroom.

Why Mami Superhero?

I wear so many hats: a mom, a wife, a student, an employee, a daughter, a sister, a friend, etc. It’s exhausting sometimes but I love my life, especially the mom part. Wearing all those titles is a lot which is why I feel moms are superheroes and even the greatest superhero gets tired or needs help sometimes.  This blog is meant to support other mom’s or parents by sharing stories, laughing mostly at myself, and easier ways to do this. I’m so glad you’re here on this journey with me.  Thanks,  Mami Superhero

Start New Goals With Your Back To School Routine

Goal setting doesn't have to be just for January 1.  A great time to set new goals is when you start a new routine, like when the kids return to school.  Why set goals :  Setting goals gives you something to achieve and look forward to. It helps to motivate you towards your future achievements.  It's easier to see goals when we visualize them .  Maybe you can visualize your goals by closing your eyes; if that doesn't work, try making a vision board .  How to make a vision board : You can take a poster board and put pictures of your dreams or goals, write words, cut words out of magazines, and put up quotes or scriptures to make your vision board a success.  Remember to set long-term and short-term goals. I struggled with fertility but knew someday I would be a mom.  For over ten years, I have had a picture of myself holding a sign that says, "A good mom." Initially, this helped me focus on doing whatever I could to be healthy and foll...
