Start New Goals With Your Back To School Routine

Goal setting doesn't have to be just for January 1.  A great time to set new goals is when you start a new routine, like when the kids return to school.  Why set goals :  Setting goals gives you something to achieve and look forward to. It helps to motivate you towards your future achievements.  It's easier to see goals when we visualize them .  Maybe you can visualize your goals by closing your eyes; if that doesn't work, try making a vision board .  How to make a vision board : You can take a poster board and put pictures of your dreams or goals, write words, cut words out of magazines, and put up quotes or scriptures to make your vision board a success.  Remember to set long-term and short-term goals. I struggled with fertility but knew someday I would be a mom.  For over ten years, I have had a picture of myself holding a sign that says, "A good mom." Initially, this helped me focus on doing whatever I could to be healthy and foll...

4 Busy Mom Essentials

4  Busy Mom Essentials Being a mom is hardcore. I rarely have time for myself and often have limited time to get ready because I’m taking care of my child, my husband, both dogs and the turtle first.  Sometimes I’m a hot mess, but I try.  I have a few easy essentials that help me keep my sanity. 1. Dry shampoo – This is a huge time saver. If I wash my hair, I have to straighten it and I don’t always have time for that. One way to save time is to wash my hair less often.  It depends on your personal hair needs, but I find using dry shampoo and washing my hair every other day works. I recommend this brand of dry shampoo.  They have full-size and travel-size bottles and different scents.  I like the pink scent best.  However, I recommend the original option if you are sensitive to smells. What College Students Actually Need for Class

What College Students Actually Need for Class A notebook - I like 3 subject ones so that you can use them for multiple classes, but the choice is yours. A Pen A pencil - depending on the class, you may need a number 2 pencil. A Highlighte r- I prefer yellow because you can still easily copy what you have highlighted. The best highlighters I have found are erasable.  Yes, I said it: erasable , they are so cool that I had to buy some extra because my son took my first pack to school to show his friends. Check them out here: https://amzn.to/3XlXF6F Your textbook ? – It depends on the class and how heavy the darn thing is if you need to carry it around. Your laptop or iPad – It's so nice to take notes during class or sit in the library on campus between classes and work on your homework. A backpack – I highly recommend you put the above items in something, preferably a backpack.  I ...

Why I Always Buy Extra School Supplies

Why I Always Buy Extra School Supplies If you are anything like me, you want to get the necessary school supplies for the least amount of money. But what about the supplies your child will lose or break? It is super helpful to buy extra supplies like markers, pencils, highlighters, pens, crayons, and especially washable crayons . These things are amazing! Here is an easy way to get some: https://amzn.to/46LbDBU You can donate the extra if your child doesn't need it. Talk to your child's teacher, and I'm sure they will appreciate having the supply for the child in the classroom whose family may be unable to afford it. You can also donate to a local church, after-school program, daycare, or a community fill-the-bus program. *These also make great birthday and Christmas gifts because the parents of the child you are giving them to will secretly thank you. You can pair them with an activity book or coloring book. Legal Disclosure I’m an Amazon affiliate and the lin...

3 Cleaning Hacks that Work and Save Money

3 Cleaning Hacks That Work & Save Money My mother-in-law visited recently, when she visits, she likes to help with cleaning, which I appreciate. During this recent visit, I saw her scrub my broom not once but twice with a cleaning brush.  I texted my mom: "She's doing it again." "Am I supposed to be cleaning my broom?" My mom responded that she cleans her broom twice a year, which helps prevent her from purchasing a new one as often. After I finished scolding my mom for failing to teach me this important task, I told many of my friends.  No one from my generation knew this, but it makes sense.  A great way to save money is to not spend it by taking care of what we already own. So, let's address this issue by discussing how to save some money with cleaning. 1      Take care of what you own:   Clean your broom and dustpan to avoid unnecessarily needing to purchase a new one.  Also, I have an indoor and outdoor broom, which you may al...

Simple Organization - Snacks

Simple Organization -Snacks My home is the one on the block where all the kids hang out. It's all boys all the time. They are loud, messy, and hungry.  I'm happy to have my home be a safe space for them to be kids, and I want them all to feel like they are at home in my home. This is why I have a snack cabinet.  One entire cabinet is filled with snacks: granola bars, fruit cups, gummy bars, candy, chips, crackers, mini muffins, etc. The kids all know they can grab something if they are hungry.  I keep my cabinet organized with these helpful dividers. Cabinet Organization: This Kitchen Space Corner Lazy Susan is so helpful!   https://amzn.to/4dI27Sg Other snack organization things that may work for your family: Check on this excellent beverage fridge option: https://amzn.to/46KzCB8 A bowl of fruit on the counter. Some moms have a drawer in their fridge for snacks.  Do what works for your home and what you can afford.  Setting...

Mom School - Chore Charts for Small Children

Mom School The other night, I was teaching my son how to do something fundamental in the kitchen, and he asked me where I learned to do that task; I told him at “mom school.” He responded, “Is there a dad school?”  I quickly told him I had been joking and learned how to do it from my mom, but it got me thinking about all the adulting and parting things I know and how I’ve learned them. I’m so thankful for the people and resources I have to pull information from that help me figure out this mom thing because it sure isn’t easy.  Mom School helped remind me that I give him chores because that is how my mom taught me how to function and ...

Put some watermelon and juice from what dish of watermelon or use water depending on how much juice you have, and ice in a blender. Put to a slushy setting or something similar. Five-Step Back-to-School Routine You Need to Start Now

Five-Step Back-to-School Routine You Need to Start Now It's almost time for our kids to return to school after summer break.  My kid is not a morning person, and getting up early for school can be challenging.  The following is a list of ways I try to get organized to make the morning routine easier. Start going to bed earlier so your child can also wake up earlier . If you start practicing good habits with your child now, it will be much easier when you don't have time to waste. Set out essentials the night before. Either help your child pick out their outfit or pick it out for them the night before so it's one less thing you must do the following day. Start a rewards chart.   Like a chore chart or on your chore chart, start adding morning routine items like getting dressed, brushing your teeth, taking a shower, fixing hair, etc. Work with your child to set a goal and reward that is appropriate for their age g...

College Essential

College Essential-You haven’t realized you needed Must-Have a second screen: I could not have survived my first course without my extendable computer screen or second screen.  I’m doing online schooling, and it was so easy to pull up the assignment on my second screen and type a Word document on the primary screen.  I saved myself hours of extra clicks and second-guessing what I was supposed to write. Hours that moms don’t have to waste. **Other uses: for work from home, more accessible access for paying bills, your kids’ schoolwork, and gaming activities. Run Like A Girl: Mud Run Must-Haves

Mud Run Must Haves You will get dirty if you're adventurous and willing to overcome all the obstacles.  When I say dirty, I mean filthy.  I highly recommend you bring the following with you: ·          A waterproof phone case .   I put my phone in a waterproof phone case my family uses at the beach, and it worked great!  Try what I used: https://amzn.to/3SLMQIm  I had to tuck it into my bra a few times to move a little easier, but it saved my phone and allowed us to get some cool pictures.  By the end of the event, we couldn't use it to take any more pictures because it was too dirty, so bringing a zip log bag with dry clothing or baby wipes to someone's pocket may be a good idea but not necessary. #Affiliate ·          A change of clothes , even new underwear.  I read this before my first event and should have listened.  Don't make the same mistake I...
